Whitesands Bay (Porth Mawr)

Whitesands is the big, dramatic surf beach on the St Davids peninsula, framed by the volcanic bulk of Carn Llidi and looking out to Ramsey Island. For a pilot it's a genuinely rewarding flight: clean lines of white sand, breaking Atlantic swell and a rugged headland backdrop that fills a frame from almost any altitude. The catch is people. This is a Blue Flag, lifeguarded surf beach and in summer it is heaving, so realistically this is an off-season or dawn spot if you want space to launch away from bodies. There is no airport FRZ nearby (Haverfordwest is roughly 20km east) and no active danger area on top of you, so the airspace is unusually clean for West Wales. It sits within Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, which permits recreational flying but asks you to respect wildlife; choughs and cliff-nesting seabirds use the surrounding headlands, so keep well out over open sand and water and don't buzz the cliffs. A sub-250g machine launched from the tideline in the shoulder season is your best, least hassle option here.
