Seaford Head (South Hill Barn)

This is the legal way to get the postcard Seven Sisters shot — the Coastguard Cottages framed against the tumbling white cliffs and the Cuckmere meandering to the sea. The trick is who owns the ground: Seaford Head is a Local Nature Reserve owned by Seaford Town Council (managed alongside Sussex Wildlife Trust and the South Downs NPA), so unlike the National Trust's Birling Gap/Seven Sisters just east, TOAL is not banned outright. Park free at South Hill Barn (BN25 4JQ) and walk out toward Hope Gap and the cliff edge. Two serious cautions keep this at 'caution', not open. First, wildlife: the chalk faces here hold a nationally important kittiwake and seabird colony, so do not fly near the cliff during the breeding season (roughly March to August) — disturbing them is an offence and simply not worth it. Second, safety: the edge is unfenced with a big drop and gusty onshore wind, so keep well back and mind your footing when launching. Newhaven's harbour and town sit to the west. No close FRZ (Shoreham ~20km, Gatwick far). Autumn and winter golden hours, outside seabird season, are ideal.
