Sea Palling Beach

Sea Palling is a broad, gently shelving family beach made distinctive by nine offshore rock reefs that create a string of shallow lagoons - a genuinely unusual coastal feature to shoot from above. You reach the sand through a gap in the concrete sea wall from the Beach Road car park, and once out on the beach the reefs, groynes and the long defensive wall give strong graphic lines for aerial composition. It is a rewarding, open spot for a light drone, with plenty of room to take off away from the busier central section. The important caveat is wildlife: the Winterton-Horsey grey-seal colony lies only a few kilometres south, one of England's largest, and during the November-January pupping season stretches of that coast are closed and wardened - keep at least 100m from any seals you see and never fly low over them. In summer the RNLI operates a lifeguarded zone; launch and land outside it. There is no airport nearby (Norwich is about 25km west), so airspace is unrestricted. Come at low tide when the lagoons and reef tops are exposed, ideally on a calm morning before the beach fills and the sea breeze gets up.
