Robin Hood's Stride

A quiet, characterful alternative to the Peak's crowded edges: a pair of gritstone pinnacles — 'Inaccessible' and 'Weasel' — rising straight out of the bracken on Harthill Moor near Birchover. It's CROW open-access land and not National Trust, so hobbyist TOAL is fine, and you rarely share it with more than a couple of walkers or boulderers. The gap between the two tors makes a striking natural gateway to fly through or orbit, with Cratcliffe Tor, a hermit's cave and the Nine Ladies stone circle all within a short hop for a themed session. Launch from the short turf below the rocks. It sits fairly low and sheltered compared with the high edges, so conditions are usually more forgiving, though rotor off the tors can bite if you fly tight to the stone. Parking is the main limitation — only a few informal roadside spots on Cliff Lane, so arrive early. Warm evening light on the weathered grit and the rolling White Peak backdrop is the pick here.
