Porthdinllaen

Porthdinllaen is a postcard-perfect huddle of cottages on a hooked, sheltered bay on the north Llyn coast, famous for the Ty Coch Inn sitting right on the sand. From the air the curving headland, the moored boats and the pastel hamlet are irresistible. The complication is ownership: the entire hamlet, headland and the golf-club access are National Trust, and the Trust prohibits take-off and landing from its land. The clean, legal route is to park at the Morfa Nefyn beach car park (the National Trust golf-club car park is the usual access), walk down, and launch from the beach foreshore below the mean high-water line, which is Crown Estate, then fly out over the water toward the point. Keep well away from the busy pub terrace, the boats and moorings, and any golfers. There is no airport FRZ over the site. It's a designated marine and heritage area with seals and seabirds, so fly considerately and avoid low passes over people, who are numerous here in summer. Come on a still weekday morning before the beach fills, keep it brief and courteous, and you'll get a memorable coastal sequence without a confrontation.
