Port Eynon Bay, Gower

Port Eynon is the easy-access end of Gower, a wide, dune-backed sandy bay with a big council car park right behind the beach, which makes it a refreshingly simple place to launch compared with Gower's clamber-down coves. On a dropping tide the sand opens out generously and you can shoot the sweep of the bay towards Oxwich Point, the old salt-house ruins, and the limestone headland of Port Eynon Point to the west. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but there is no specific drone byelaw and, importantly, you are comfortably clear of Swansea Airport's flight-restriction zone twelve kilometres to the north-east. The cliffs and point to the west are National Trust, so keep your take-off and landing on the beach itself. The downsides are honest ones: this is one of Gower's most popular family beaches and it gets genuinely packed on warm weekends, so an early start or an off-season weekday is far better for both crowds and clean frames. The dunes and salt marsh behind the beach hold nesting and ground-feeding birds, so keep your distance. Low tide with low spring or autumn light is ideal.
