Penmon Point (Trwyn Du)

Penmon Point at Anglesey's eastern tip is a classic North Wales drone location for good reason: the black-and-white banded Trwyn Du lighthouse sits just offshore in a tidal channel, with Puffin Island behind it and the whole Eryri skyline stacked up across the Menai Strait. A low orbit of the lighthouse at golden hour, with the Carneddau glowing pink in the background, is about as good as UK coastal drone photography gets. It is also one of the safest spots on Anglesey airspace-wise, sitting roughly 30km from the RAF Valley FRZ on the far side of the island. TOAL is straightforward from the shingle and grass around the pay-and-display car park at the point; the pebble beach gives you clear sight lines in every direction. Two things demand respect. First, Puffin Island is a protected seabird colony with cormorants, guillemots and returning puffins, plus grey seals hauled out on its rocks — do not overfly the island, and give the lighthouse rocks a wide berth in the March-to-July breeding season. Second, the tide races through Penmon Sound alarmingly fast, so a ditching here is unrecoverable. Wind funnels along the Strait; check forecasts for the gap between Anglesey and the mainland rather than for Beaumaris.
