Loch Morlich Beach

A freshwater beach at 350m with the Cairngorm plateau rising straight behind it — one of the few places in Britain you can frame golden sand, pine forest and snow-streaked mountains in a single climb-out. Take off from the beach or the watersports car park and the drone gives you two very different pictures: a low orbit over the shallows for reflection shots of Cairn Gorm and Coire an t-Sneachda, or a steady vertical to reveal the horseshoe of Glenmore forest wrapping the whole loch. Morning is your friend here; by mid-morning the funnelled wind off the Northern Corries kicks up and the loch chops, so a sub-250g machine will get pushed around. Winter transforms it — frozen margins, dusted Scots pines — but expect very cold battery performance and pack spares warm. It sits in the Cairngorms National Park (no blanket drone ban) on Forestry and Land Scotland ground, and access rights cover TOAL. No airport FRZ nearby — Inverness is roughly 40km northwest. Keep clear of the busy swim area and paddleboarders in summer.
