Jeffrey Hill (Longridge Fell)

One of Lancashire's great roadside panoramas: pull into the small car park on the shoulder of Longridge Fell at Jeffrey Hill and the whole Ribble Valley unfolds below you - Pendle Hill to the east, the Bowland fells to the north, and the river snaking through a green quilt of farmland. It is a photographer's classic for a reason, and for drone pilots it is close to ideal: you can launch from open ground metres from the car and immediately have a huge, uncluttered valley to work with, no honeypot crowds and no National Trust land underneath. Morning mist pooling in the valley with the fells floating above it is the signature shot here, and it happens regularly on still autumn dawns. The launch area is breezy and the fell top behind is coniferised, so keep your compositions facing out over the valley. Simple, legal, high-reward - the kind of place you can visit repeatedly and get a different frame every time.
