Glenariff Forest Park

Known as the Queen of the Glens, Glenariff offers a lush, waterfall-filled valley that looks spectacular from the air, with the glen framing a view down toward the sea at Waterfoot. The forest park sits on high ground above the river gorge, and the classic shot is the U-shaped glacial valley stretching northeast with patchwork farmland on the slopes. This is Forest Service Northern Ireland (DAERA) land, so strictly speaking recreational drone flying needs prior permission from the forestry office; many hobbyists launch instead from lanes and open viewpoints just outside the pay-and-display boundary to stay on the right side of the rules. Inside the park the tree cover is dense and the waterfall trails are busy with walkers, so open ground near the upper car park or the moorland edge above the treeline gives the cleanest line of sight. Mornings are quiet and often still, while afternoons bring walkers and coach parties. There is no airport restriction here. The glen funnels wind, so expect sudden gusts channelling up or down the valley. Autumn brings the richest colour across the deciduous canopy, and after heavy rain the waterfalls run full, adding real drama to any aerial sequence.
