Gedling Country Park

Gedling Country Park is a modern success story - a former colliery spoil heap north-east of Nottingham reshaped into rolling grassland with genuinely wide views over the Trent Valley to Belvoir and, on a clear day, the edge of the Peak. It's a recognised spot in the drone community (listed on the usual where-to-fly maps), which tells you flying happens here regularly, and the open, grassy summit gives clean TOAL and unobstructed sky in most directions. It's a Gedling Borough Council park, so the standard country-park caveat applies: the council can restrict drones, it's popular with families, dog-walkers and the cafe crowd, and you should fly early or midweek, keep well clear of people and the play areas, and be ready to land if asked. The hill is exposed and can be gusty. Airspace is the thing to double-check: East Midlands Airport lies ~18km SW and its FRZ does not reach Gedling, but you're in busy lowland Class G near Nottingham, so use a map app and keep a lookout. There's a visitor centre with parking and toilets. Best light is a clear evening looking SW down the Trent, or a crisp winter morning when the distant hills sharpen up.
