Foremark Reservoir

Foremark Reservoir sits in quiet south Derbyshire near Ticknall and Repton, a Severn Trent water supply reservoir with a wooded shoreline, a country-park feel and easy access from the A514. It is a calmer, less crowded alternative to Carsington, with attractive water, trees and gentle farmland for backdrops. As with all Severn Trent sites, the land and water are company property and drone take-off and landing are not permitted from their ground without permission, so this is a caution entry: fly responsibly and launch from public land rather than the operational shoreline or car parks. The reservoir is used for sailing, fishing and open-water swimming and is a haven for wildfowl, so keep clear of boats, swimmers and birds, particularly in the breeding season. There is no National Trust land here. On the airspace side, East Midlands Airport lies roughly 15km to the north-east, comfortably outside its flight restriction zone, so there is no FRZ issue at the reservoir itself, though always check before you fly. Parking is pay and display and can be busy in summer. Choose a still, clear morning midweek for glassy water, low crowds and the best reflections.
