Castle Stalker Viewpoint, Appin

A four-storey tower house marooned on its own tidal islet in Loch Laich, off Appin, with the hills of Kingairloch and Morvern behind — arguably the most photogenic small castle in Scotland. The classic drone shot is a low, slow approach across the water so the castle sits perfectly isolated on its rock, then a rise to reveal the loch opening into Loch Linnhe with layered peaks beyond. High tide gives you the 'floating' castle; low tide exposes the seaweed causeway and changes the mood entirely, so check tide times. Light is best in the evening when the sun drops west over Lismore and warms the harled walls. You launch from the roadside viewpoint/café lay-by on the A828 (well known to visitors) — TOAL from the public verge or shore under access rights. The castle itself is privately owned (not HES or NTS), so there's no monument consent issue, but it's a home — don't hover intrusively; keep your distance and shoot it as a landscape. Sea air is gusty across the exposed loch. Nearest FRZ is Oban Airport ~15km south — comfortably clear. Watch for herons and sea eagles working the shallows.
