Castle Archdale Country Park

Castle Archdale is a large country park on the wooded eastern shore of Lower Lough Erne, opposite the island cluster that includes Devenish and White Island. From the air it delivers classic Fermanagh lakeland: reed-fringed bays, a busy little marina, mature oak and beech woodland and the scattered drumlin islands trailing off into the water. It's a rewarding subject, but the access position needs honesty. The park is DAERA/Forest Service land, and drone flying on Forest Service NI ground is not a general right, it requires prior permission from the park or Forest Service, so treat this as a caution and make the call before you travel. In summer the marina, caravan park and jetties are genuinely busy with families, boats and anglers, which makes a compliant launch away from people harder, so favour a quiet weekday morning and use the open shore or the wider grass areas rather than the crowded marina. The nearest FRZ is Enniskillen/St Angelo Airport roughly 13km to the south-west, comfortably outside its zone, but worth logging on your app. Keep well clear of the ASSI islands and nesting/wintering wildfowl on the lough, which can be disturbed by low passes. Beautiful, but do the permission legwork first.
