Burton Dassett Hills

Burton Dassett Hills is a pocket of steep, grassy hills marooned in the flat south Warwickshire farmland, and it's deservedly popular with kite-flyers, families and, yes, drone pilots. The Warwickshire County Council country park is a series of knobbly summits crowned by the medieval Beacon tower, with abrupt little valleys and panoramic views over the Feldon plain - a lot of dramatic relief for somewhere so accessible. You drive in on a one-way loop, drop coins in the honesty box, and can park almost on the tops, so it's about the lowest-effort great viewpoint in the region. As a country park it carries the usual caveat: the council can restrict drones and it gets genuinely busy on sunny weekends with children, dogs and kites, so fly early or midweek, keep well separated from people and pick a quieter summit. The turf is smooth for TOAL but the hills are exposed and thermally lively, so expect wind. Airspace is fine - no FRZ reaches here; Wellesbourne's airfield sits ~12km NW and Coventry's zone is well north, both clear. Golden-hour light rakes beautifully across the ridges and the Beacon tower makes a natural hero subject. Skylarks and sheep in spring - give them room.
