Brown Clee Hill

The highest point in Shropshire at 540m, and a genuinely quiet upland when the Long Mynd and Wrekin are packed. Abdon Burf and the surrounding Clee Liberty are CROW open-access common, so you can walk on and TOAL freely from the moor-grass top. The view is vast and lonely — the Corvedale, Wenlock Edge, Radnor hills and the Malverns strung along the horizon — and the old quarry terraces and heather give texture for foreground. The catch is the summit hardware: a cluster of telecom masts and a radar dome sit on Abdon Burf, so launch and fly to the west or south of the mast compound and keep a healthy distance from the aerials and any RF that could upset your link — test your signal before committing. It's high, open and often windy with fast-moving cloud, so watch for whiteout and keep line of sight. Livestock graze the common. Roadside parking near Cockshutford or the Clee Liberty lane. Best on a settled, clear day.
