Bredon Hill

A great isolated outlier of the Cotswolds rising alone from the Vale of Evesham, so the summit view is genuinely panoramic — the Malverns, the Avon and Severn vales, and the main Cotswold escarpment all laid out around you. On top sit Parson's Folly, an 18th-century tower nudging the hill over 1,000ft, and the earthworks of Kemerton Camp, both strong subjects to orbit. The plateau itself is registered CROW open-access land, so you can TOAL from the top, but the slopes below are Overbury Estate farmland crossed by permissive paths — start from a village (Great Comberton, Elmley Castle, Kemerton or Overbury) and do your flying from the open-access summit rather than over the farmland or livestock. It's a fairly gentle, breezy top with few obstacles beyond the tower, making for relaxed flying, though there's little shelter if the wind gets up. Sheep and cattle graze, and skylarks nest in the grass in spring. Quiet on weekdays. Nearest restricted airspace is Gloucestershire Airport (Staverton) about 18km south-west. Lovely in low morning light with mist in the vale.
