Beacon Fell Country Park

Beacon Fell is a compact, forested hill on the western fringe of the Forest of Bowland AONB, rising to a trig point with open views over the Fylde coast, Morecambe Bay and, on a clear day, the southern Lakeland fells and the Bowland moors behind. For pilots it is an accessible, well-signed spot with a mix of conifer plantation, open moorland grass and a summit clearing that gives room to launch and clean sightlines to the west. The important caveat is that this is a Lancashire County Council country park, and many country parks apply byelaws restricting or banning drones - check the current on-site signage and the council's rules before flying, and consider the adjacent CRoW access moorland as an alternative if TOAL is prohibited within the park boundary. The summit is exposed and often breezy, which helps with clean air but can make the wooded launch clearings turbulent. It is popular with families and dog-walkers, especially at weekends, so pick a quiet weekday morning and keep well clear of the visitor centre and trails. Early light gives the best long-distance clarity toward the bay and fells before haze builds.
