Aldeburgh — Slaughden

Classic Suffolk shingle with plenty of room to fly if you use the southern, Slaughden end rather than the busy town frontage. Park at Fort Green car park and walk south along the wide shingle toward the Martello tower, where crowds thin and you get open space in every direction. The foreshore is Crown Estate and there's no drone ban on the open beach, so this is a straightforward legal launch. Compositions are excellent: pastel seafront and fishing boats to the north, the squat Martello tower, the narrow spit running down toward Orford Ness, and the River Alde curling behind you, so land and water sit close together. The shingle is firm and easy to launch from. Aldeburgh gets genuinely busy in summer around the town, so an early morning or off-season visit transforms the experience. Push too far south along the spit in spring and summer and you enter nesting shingle-bird territory near Orford Ness, so favour the town-end shingle for take-off and keep your distance from the vegetated spit. Sea breezes are steady here; nothing a stable sub-250g can't handle in a reasonable window.
